City of Edgewater
SR 442 Landscape Architecture
LDI prepared design guidelines for a private development along a 3.7-mile stretch of the Indian River Corridor (SR 442), a four-lane roadway leading into the City of Edgewater from I-95. The design guidelines identified three distinct areas of the corridor based on existing development patterns and proposed thematic elements for each. LDI also prepared amendments to the City’s comprehensive plan and land development code to integrate the design guidelines into the City’s and the County’s codes. In addition, LDI completed a set of conceptual designs for five key intersections along the roadway corridor and a gateway marking the entrance to the City. The project required a holistic design approach to provide a unique and aesthetically pleasing streetscape reflecting the identity of the surrounding developments while offering a consistent design through the length of the roadway. LDI prepared the construction documents for the implementation of the proposed streetscape improvements.
City Hall Complex Master Plan and Kennedy Park Master Plan
LDI was responsible for the development of several alternative site plans for the redevelopment and expansion of the existing City of Edgewater Kennedy Memorial Park and for the design of a campus style master plan for the adjacent City Hall complex. Master planning for the City Hall site included preparation of a spatial analysis of the City’s current and future building requirements. Careful coordination of the two sites was required to develop an integrated master plan. The project included the development of a conceptual building layout, pedestrian access facilities, a perimeter boardwalk along the intercoastal, vehicular parking areas, boat launching ramps, stormwater facilities design, internal roadways, traffic calming devices, landscaping, recreational amenities and construction cost estimates.
